Trying To Keep An Open Mind

On the way in to work this morning, I heard the folks on the radio talking about Obama replacing “Hail To The Chief” with Desert Rose”
My first reaction was to go apoplectic. Then I realized that it must be a joke.
Well, turns out it is somewhere in between (I Hope!)

Now, I have a mixed opinion about a “casual” Presidency. I don’t mind so much of he doesn’t have a suit coat on while in the oval office but he had better wear one when he receives someone in that office (or anywhere else other than in the residence for that matter).

And I hope that this thing about not playing “Hail To The Chief” is only sometimes and only for unofficial events, otherwise I will go apoplectic again.

You see, by not accepting the traditions of the office he thumbs his nose at the Presidency, both the office and the position, and at us.  Because he represents us, and the country, and the office.

By dressing down his appearance as well as the traditions, he diminishes the office that the American people elected him too.  In short, it’s nit HIS office to mess with, it’s OUR office.
